Title:Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Induced Particle Rotation and Aggregation in Microdroplet

Abstract: -In this paper, we present different dynamical behaviors of micro particles in a droplet subject to the surface acoustic wave (SAW) field generated by using an annular interdigital transducer (AIDT). It was found that the micro particles can be forced to a ring type pattern, rotation or aggregation under different experimental conditions. The simulation indicates that the nonsymmetrical SAW radiation force on the micro particles and anisotropic properties of the LiNbO3 substrate are key factors leading to these phenomena.
Title:A MEMS Resonant Tilt Sensor with High Sensitivity in the Full Range

Abstract: In this paper, a MEMS tilt sensor with high sensitivity in the full range is designed and evaluated by open-loop measurement. The sensor contains a hexagon proof mass, micro-lever force amplifiers and three double-ended tuning fork (DETF) resonant strain gauges, converting variations of gravity acceleration to resonant frequency shift. The structure of the sensor is analyzed using finite element simulation, and then fabricated through a commercial silicon-on-insulator(SOI)-MEMS foundry process. It is experimental tested that the sensitivity of such sensor can reach up to at least 858.6Hz/90° in the full range. Optimizations and improvements had been done, and the simulated sensitivity of the improved tilt sensor can achieve 1700Hz/90°.
Title: Synthesis of ZnS Urchin-like Nanostructures for Electrochemical Determination of Uric Acid

Abstract: In this work, Zinc sulphide (ZnS) urchin-like nanocrystals were synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method. By controlling the ratio of the reaction solvent ethylenediamine (EN) and water, we can get different nanostructures. The morphology and crystal properties of synthesized materials were characterized with FESEM and XRD. Optical properties were characterized by UV-visible spectrometer and fluorescence spectrometer. Due to large surface-area-to-volume ratio, ZnS urchin-like nanostructures were chosen to spin-coated on ITO glass and then immobilized with uricase enzyme to form a working electrode to determine the concentration of uric acid in aqueous solution by an enzyme-based electrochemical method. The results showed a high sensitivity of 9.55861e-6A·cm-2·mM-1. The detecting linear range is from 0.01 mM to 1mM with detecting limit of 1.16μM and correlation coefficient of R2=0.99967.

Abstract: In this paper, the dynamic performance of a novel tilting angle measurement system based on three MEMS (Micro-electromechanical System) accelerometers is studied. The sensitive range of angle measurement is expanded to 360° through a proper arrangement of the accelerometers. The dynamic performance of the measurement system is characterized on a standard vibrating table with a different excitation. Measurement error is reduced by using Kalman filtering algorithm and the data fusion technique. It was found that the tilt error rotating around a circle is 0.9° under the sine excitation at a frequency of 20Hz and a peak acceleration of 0.2g, while tilt error rotating around a circle is 0.43° under the random excitation condition that the excitation frequency range is from 20 to 100 Hz, the effective acceleration is 8.94982 m/s2 and power spectrum density 1 (m/s^2)/√Hz. The minimum resolution is found to be 0.03° by the tilt sensor under the random excitation with a peak value is 0.8g and the vibration frequency is 25Hz.The minimum resolution of the measurement system has a tendency to become worse when the vibration intensity becomes higher.
