Abstract

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) is an institution aiming to improve the training of creative and distinguished postgraduates and enhance the development of China’s higher education. Over the past several years, CSC has sponsored many talented Chinese students for overseas study. From October 2017 to October 2018, I was sponsored by CSC to perform one-year research work at Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University of California Los Angeles. During my stay, I worked together with Prof. Ajit Mal on SHM and NDE for honeycomb composite. A brief introduction of UCLA and Prof. Mal’s NDE group in which I studied will be given in my presentation.

Bio Sketch of Mr. Gao Fei

Gao Fei is a fifth year Ph.D. student in Professor Jing Lin’s group in the School of mechanical engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an, China. He was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council to conduct a one-year research as a visiting PhD student during October 2017- October 2018 under the supervision of Prof. Ajit Mal in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of California, Los Angeles, USA. His research focuses on the structural health monitoring methods for composite structures.
